Investors Lost N84.71bn as NGXASI Declined by 0.15%; the BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,494/USD

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

1.1 NGX  Listed Equities

The local equities market extended yesterday's loss, losing 15 basis points on selloffs in GTCO (-2.63%), UBA (-1.72%), SKYAVN (-9.8%), and GUINNESS (-1.20%).

 

The NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) fell 0.15% to 97,978.02 points, reinforcing Wednesday's loss of 0.16% at 98,128.00 points. Investors' wealth dropped by N84.71bn as the Market Cap fell to N55.42trn while the ASI's year-to-date return dropped to 31.03%. 

 

The total volume traded advanced by 16.47% to close at N316.45m, valued at N7.70bn and traded in 7,852 deals. UBA  was the most traded stock by volume, with N50.32m units traded, while JBERGER  was the most traded stock by value, with N1.46bn units traded.

 

The Gote and Samad indexes closed flat at 343.15 and 364.34 points, respectively, while the Toni index fell by 0.37% to 1222.42 points. 

 

The market breadth index (MBI) was negative at -0.14x with 17 gainers against 28 losers, while 77 equities were unchanged. CILEASING topped the gainers' list, while SKYAVN topped the losers' list.            

 

Volume and Value Contribution

UBA had the highest volume, contributing 15.90%, while GTCO and ZENITHBANK followed closely. 

 

The value chart shows that JBERGER contributed the most, with a 19.02% share. GTCO and UBA  followed closely behind.
