Investors Lose N32.83bn as NGXASI Dips by 0.12%; Overnight Rate Declines by 3.33% to Close at 11.50%; IEFX Rate Depreciates to N430.25

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed in the negative territory as key market indicator dipped by 60.87bps amid positive market breadth.

 

The NGX All-Share Index dipped by 0.12% to close at 50,014.60 basis points as against 1.47% gain recorded to close at 50,075.47 basis points at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N32.83bn loss.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +17.09% 

The total volume traded declined by -52.16% to close at 133.59m, valued at N2.44bn and traded in 4,292 deals. UBA was the most traded stock by volume with 20.45m units traded while MTNN   was the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.22bn. 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as four (4) NGX sector index closed northward, twelve (12) closed southward while two (2) closed flat. The NGX Growth Index inched up by 1.56% to top the gainers chart while the NGX AFRBVI Index dipped by 0.90% to top the losers’ chart.

Gote index closed flat at 138.44 basis points while Toni index dipped by 1.68% to close at 107.12 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 19 gainers to 14 losers and 61 unchanged. NAHCO topped the list of gainers while ABCTRANS topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.08x.

Volume and Value Contribution

UBA led the volume’s chart with 15.31% contribution and closely followed by CHAMS and ACCESSCORP

 

MTNN tops the value’s chart with 49.95% contribution and closely followed by SEPLAT and UBA

The FMDQ Debt Market Size advanced by 0.07% to close at N29.15trn as against previous figure of N29.13trn

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate contracted by 3.33% to close at 11.50% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also contracted by 3.67% to close at 11.00%

 

 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI advanced by 0.29% to close at 448.43 points while the AEI closed flat at 206.90 points

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Paddy Rice advanced by +0.51% to top the gainers’ chart while other commodities closed flat.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.16% loss while Silver also declined by 1.12% as of 13:03 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 2.24% while WTI also advanced by 2.59% as of 12:09 PM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira depreciated by 0.29% at the I&E FX Window to close at N430.25/USD while the NAFEX rate also depreciated by 0.49% to close at N428.75
