Every Organisation That Seeks Growth Must Have Audacious Goals - Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede

TheNigeria-British Chamber of Commerce hosted the first edition of its experiencesharing series. 


Theinitiative was designed to provide learning opportunities from prominentNigerian personalities that have distinguished themselves in their careers.


The Firstseries discussed "Building Institutions" with the Chairmanof the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG), Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede,as the guest speaker at the event.


Aig-Imoukhuede,a lawyer, banker and philanthropist can be best described as a pacesetter,go-getter, visionary leader, strategic thinker and innovative leader that ispositively shaping the financial services industry.


Speaking atthe event attended by business leaders, technocrats and financial analysts,Aig-Imoukhuede said that such conversations were vital for any organization toevolve into a robust institution. 


He believedthat leadership was a critical factor for building institutions, and in thisarea, the level of a leader's enlightenment and education was important.


Accordingto him, leaders play a vital role in ensuring that there are sound institutionsand become enablers for people to do extraordinary things.


"Everyorganization that seeks to be an institution must have audacious goals,"Aig-Imoukhuede said.


Heemphasized the importance of organizational culture as a pivot to strategy andcalled on CEOs and Leaders to avoid copying the strategies of other companies.The erstwhile banker said every organization must understand their uniquestrategy and build on them to become a notable institution.


The formerPresident of the Council of the Nigeria Stock Exchange, NSE, recognized theneed for talent management as an area a leader of an organization must givepriority in building the institution.


Hedescribed governance as a key component of institution building as it entailsthe interaction of authority and systems, which leads to decision-making.


Speakingfurther, he stressed the need for organizations to consistently create valueand understand the touch-points with their clients and customers.


Structureshe noted must be put in place to allow organizations to achieve improvement inscale and growth in their businesses.


In aQuestion and Answer session moderated by Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi, FCA, Founder ofProshare Nigeria, Imoukhuede, while fielding questions said stakeholderrelationship management and courage were among the key issues thatorganizations must focus on to retain value and relevance.


He informedbusiness leaders that through the "Africa Initiative for Governance,"there was a deliberate effort at contributing to the transformation of thecivil service in countries like Nigeria, bringing efficiency and capacitybuilding to the forefront.


ThePresident of the NBCC, Mr. Kayode Falowo, described the "ExperienceSharing Series" as an initiative that would help in providing real-lifeexperiences from tested leaders that could inspire other business leaders.
