Young Progressives Party PresidentialCandidate, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has said he will drive an innovative andproductive Nigerian economy, if elected into office in 2019.

 

Moghalu shared his thoughts at a 2019Presidential elections town hall meeting anchored by ace journalist KadariaAhmed in Abuja.

 

fielding questions alongside his runningmate Mrs Umma Getso, Moghalu  said that part of the focus of hisadministration will be lifting millions of Nigerians out of structural poverty.

 

The former Deputy Governor of the CentralBank of Nigeria (CBN) said he will abolish petroleum subsidy and channel therevenue saved to a N500bn Venture Capital fund designed to boost entrepreneurshipand create jobs.

 

Moghalu reemphasised that the economicplan of his YPP party is anchored on “Build, Innovate and Grow” (B.I.G) whichwill attract real-time venture capital investments that will transform theeconomy.

 

He noted that the ongoing SocialIntervention Programme of the All Progressives Congress Party, will be reworkedto focus on a productive entrepreneurship programmes that will addressunemployment and poverty.

In terms of fiscal plans like the annualbudgets, Moghalu said his government will work towards a 50% recurrent and 50%capital expenditure plan.

 

On the “Restructuring” discourse Moghalustressed that his focus will be fiscal federalism.

 

When asked about his election campaignfunds and how much has been spent, Moghalu gave an estimate of over N200millionemphasizing that the sources of the funds are credible.

 

Responding to the question of declaringassets if elected as President, Moghalu said he will follow what is applicableto the laws of the nation.

 

He believed under his leadership Nigerianinventors and the digital economic ecosystem will receive a boost, and alsocontribute immensely to the nation’s economic growth.
