NigerianStock Market closed the month ofOctober 2021 in the green zone as market witnessed improved sentiment comparedto the previous month of September 2021. The NSEASI inched up by +4.52% as against +2.55% gain recorded in the month of September 2021 while the NASD USIclosed northwards with +1.49% gain recorded at the end of the month under review asagainst -1.52% loss in September 2021.
YTD, the NSEASI ended the month under review in positive territory with 4.39% gain while the NASD USI also closed northwards with +1.50% gain.
On marketdevelopment, regulation and investors protection, the Securities and ExchangeCommission has expressed optimism that the Securities Issuers Forum will createa platform for issuers to engage the Commission in order to encourage morelistings, improve contribution of issuers to the development of the capitalmarket as key stakeholders, deepen and broaden the market and ultimatelycontribute to Nigeria's economic development.
The DG ofSEC stated this in his opening address during the virtual inauguration ofSecurities Issuers Forum by SEC in collaboration with Nigeria EmployersConsultative Association, said the SIF has the potential to act as abridge between the SEC and issuers of securities.
Also, the Nigerian ExchangeLtd (NGX) has stated that derivativestrading will deepen Market activities on NGX. As Nigerian ExchangeLimited (NGX) inches closerto the launch of Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETDs) in Nigeria, it continues toprioritize market awareness on trading ETDs on NGX in collaboration with NGClearing.
