Suleyman Abdu Ndanusa is a Banker, a Lawyer, anEconomist, a Certified National Accountant, Stockbroker and CharteredSecretary.
He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria witha Bsc (2nd Class Upper) degree in Economics in 1978 and obtained an MBA in 1982from the same University. He obtained an LLB degree from University of Lagos in2000 and was called to bar in 2003. He is also a graduate of the prestigiousAdvance Management programme (AMP) of Harvard Business School USA and theAdvanced Leadership Programme (ALP) from Judge Business School, CambridgeUniversity, UK. He is a holder of Ph.D. MGMT (Corporate Governance) from theUniversity of San Juan, and also a holder of Ph.D. in Security and Strategyfrom Nasarawa State University.
He was the Board Chairman of Securities and ExchangeCommission (SEC), Nigeria from January 2013 to April 2015 having previouslyserved as the Director General from 1999 - 2004. He was theChairman/ProChancellor of IBB University Lapai in Niger State (2009- 2015). Heis also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Mandate Consulting Limited,Abuja; a multidisciplinary consulting firm providing services in corporategovernance, risk management, economic research, financial services sector andadvisory on policy formulation.
Ndanusa's career includes leadership roles at SpringBank Plc, Nigeria where he served as Managing Director/CEO from June 2007 - Dec2008 (an interim arrangement to salvage the crises ridden Bank). Prior to hisappointment, he was Lead Consultant in the Central Bank of Nigeria BankConsolidation Monitoring Team. His banking experience goes as far back as 1987when he became the Deputy Manager, Credit & Marketing, Continental MerchantBank Nigeria Plc. (CMBN), he went on to serve in various other capacities inthe same bank such as Manager, Credit & Marketing, Head of Department,Domestic Money Market & Treasury Dept. and Assistant General Manager &Head of Domestic Money Market & Treasury Dept.
He served as Special Assistant to the HonourableMinister of Commerce in 1999; He is a recipient of the National Honour “Officerof the Order of the Niger (OON)â€. He served as a Council Member, NigeriaInvestment Promotion Commission; Member, Technical Committee on Privatisation(BPE); National Pensions Reforms Steering Committee. He has previously servedon the Board of Directors of various corporations such as UAC Plc (2010-2013),Penman Pensions Ltd (2005-2014), Surburban Telecoms (2008-2010), to mention buta few. He was a Director, Economic Intelligence Office of the National SecurityAdviser (NSA) 2005-2011. He became the Chairman, Empire 2005-2011 Group Ltd, aFinancial Services Group in 1996 having previously served as the Group ManagingDirector (GMD).
Ndanusa was the President/Chairman of Council of theInstitute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN)2013-2015. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria(ANAN). An Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers ofNigeria (CIBN) and served as a co-opted member of Council of the institute, afellow of chartered Institute of stockbroker, a fellow of Institute ofchartered secretaries and administrators (UK and Nigeria), and a fellow of theInstitute of Directors.
He is the currently the Co-Chair of the NESG FiscalPolicy Roundtable.
