Topic: The Case for aUnified Exchange

 

Ms. Tonui is Project Manager for the AfricanExchanges Linkage Project, a joint venture of the African Securities ExchangesAssociation and the African Development Bank. She has over 15 years ofexperience in the investment industry, capital markets and project management.

 

Prior to joining ASEA she worked at US-basedinvestment firms, Holland Capital Management and William Blair and Company,Chicago. Prior to that she worked in Deliveries and Settlement at the NairobiSecurities Exchange. She holds a Master's degree in Finance from the Universityof Wollongong, Australia, and a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting andBusiness Administration from Daystar University, Nairobi, Kenya.

1.Haruna JALO-WAZIRI - Managing Director/CEO, CSCS Plc

Topic: Improving FinancialMarket Infrastructures to facilitate Securities Trading

 

Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri is the Managing Director andChief Executive Officer of Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS), aposition he assumed in November 2017. He has overall responsibility fordelivering on the company's vision and mission. Since taking over at the helm,he has driven a number of strategic initiatives, leading to notable efficiencygains and repositioning the company for sustainable growth.

 

Mr. Jalo-Waziri has three decades hands-onexperience across multiple financial disciplines, with a career spanningInvestment Banking, Securities Trading, Pension Funds Administration andconventional Asset Management, Business development and Regulation. He is anaward- winning Executive, with reputable track record in leading successfulstart-ups and business transformations.

 

Prior to being appointed Chief Executive Officer ofCSCS Plc, he was Executive Director, Capital Markets at the Nigerian StockExchange, with primary responsibility for deepening the market throughproducts, market structure innovation and new listings, as well as generatingorder flow across all asset classes. Under his stewardship, the partnershipbetween the NSE and the London Stock Exchange was established, an alliancewhich has birthed a number of dual listings on these Bourses. He led the launchof the Premium Board on the NSE, distinguishing value companies with stronggovernance practices and creating enhanced liquidity flow for the counters. Healso led the introduction of the Nigerian Sovereign Green Bond as well as theFederal Government Retail Savings Bonds. Mr. Jalo-Waziri previously served asManaging Director/Chief Executive at both UBA Stockbrokers Limited and UBAAsset Management Limited, transforming the businesses to becoming top-5 intheir respective segments. He also pioneered the asset management business ofKakawa Discount House Limited (now FBN Merchant Bank) and previously worked atthe Securities and Exchange Commission.

 

Mr. Jalo-Waziri is a Director on the Board of NGClearing Limited and the Board of Special Olympics Nigeria. He is on theAdvisory Board of Business Day and currently serves as Vice President of theAIFA Reading Society, an NGO, which focuses on promotion of a reading cultureand sustainable development of the educational system in Africa. He has servedon the Boards of several companies, including FSDH Merchant Bank Limited,Nigeria-German Chemicals Plc, Protea Oakwood Hotel Limited, Coral PropertiesLimited, UBA Stockbrokers Limited and UBA Asset Management Limited to mention afew. He is a life member of the Institute of Directors.

 

Mr. Jalo-Waziri is an economist, and an alumnus ofreputable institutions, including the Lagos Business School and Venture CapitalInstitute of America. He holds a first degree and MBA from the University ofMaiduguri and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University respectively.

 

2.  Emmanuel OGUNJI - Chief Finance Officer, eTranzact International Plc      

Topic: Technology as adriver of financial market transactions

 

Emmanuel Ogunji is currently the Chief FinanceOfficer at eTranzact International Plc, Africa's premier e-payment solutionprovider. Emmanuel rose through the rank as an astute financial service leaderwith over 15 years' experience.  Havingbuilt an extensive experience spanning a wide range of practice in hospitalityand service industry, transaction switching operations, corporate andinvestment financing, Ogunji literally speaks and breathes finance.

 

As a Fintech Enthusiast, Emmanuel plays an activerole in the finance analysis and valuation of developing high-quality financialmodels. He also provides investment advisory to management and shareholderteams on a large set of financial matter such as mergers and acquisitionsinitiatives, potential opportunities, and financial due diligence.


He further defines appropriate capital structuresfor business arrangements while keeping in mind the business needs, riskmanagement taxation, accounting, and legal/policy requirements.

 

Emmanuel is a Fellow Member of the Institute ofChartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), with Masters in BusinessAdministration and has been recognized as one of the most valuable players theindustry has ever had. He is married with kids, and keen lover of landscapephotography and leisure travel.

 


3. Bola AJOMALE - Managing Director/CEO, NASD Plc

Topic: Trading in Primary& Secondary Markets using Technology: Trends & Opportunities

 

Bola is the pioneer Managing Director of NASD PLC. Bolais a highly versatile investment and financial adviser with over 20 years' cognate experience in the finance industry both locally and internationally. Hetrained as an accountant in Ernst & Young and as a stockbroker in CitySecurities Limited where he headed Stockbroking operations. He expanded hisresearch and financial advisory skills at Agusto & Co where he was a Seniorbusiness consultant. His international exposure includes various project andinvestment advisory work at Manulife Financial and Canada Pension PlanInvestment Board both in Canada.

 

Bola read Economics at the University of Leeds (UK).He is a Fellow and member of Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers(CIS), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) anda Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI UK)where he is the inaugural National Advisory Council President.  He sits in a non-executive capacity on theBoards of directors of several non-public companies and is a Trustee of theAssociation of Securities Exchanges of Nigeria.

4. Tumi SEKONI - Managing Director, FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited

Rolu Adebola is the Managing Director of CFS WestAfrica Limited, a leading Customer Experience Advisory and Technology firm inWest Africa. Before joining CFS, he worked as a consultant with AllianceConsulting (the consulting arm of Agusto & Co) and also Deloitte Nigeria.Mr Adebola has over 16 years' experience consulting for various clients in thefinancial services industry in Customer Experience, Service Improvement,Corporate Strategy and Transformation. He has also led CFS to assist severalbanks, telecommunications companies, retail businesses, healthcare andpharmaceuticals to improve the quality of their customer experience and servicedelivery.

 

Mr. Adebola is a leading influence on the CustomerExperience practice in Nigeria. He holds the prestigious CCXP Certificationfrom the globally recognized Customer Experience Professional Association(CXPA), being the first Nigerian to hold the certification since 2016. Mr.Adebola is also a certified corporate CX maturity assessor with the CustomerInstitute, a leading international institute of independent global CXconsultants. 7. Saheed KIARIBE - Director of Research, Proshare

Insights from the Report and Customer Surveys

 

Saheed is a financial market enthusiast who joinedProshare over ten years ago to sort out and develop the data, research andfinancial analysis function. He came in with a B.Sc degree in Political Sciencefrom Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye (2005) and was part of ourexperiment to bring in outsiders to change the collation, processing andpresentation of data related to the markets.

 

He has since, while delivering on this difficultassignment that required a bridge between tradition and the digital world,obtained an MBA in Marketing Management from Ladoke Akintola University ofTechnology, Ogbomosho. He is today, an associate member of the Institute ofCapital Market Registrars (2010) and a keen student in other knowledgeempowering institutes where he is pursuing formal qualifications.

 

Saheed is a devoted professional whose only interestin is the provision of credible data for decision making, having learnt thevalue of data from his starting role with Intercontinental Registrars Ltd inMay 2007 where he worked in the verification unit. The firm, recognising hisapplication and self motivation, caused for him to be transferred to the StockBroking Unit of the firm; from where he joined Proshare Nigeria Ltd in March2010; after almost three years of service at the Registrars Unit.

 

Since his engagement, he has attended multipleprofessional training, workshop and conferences on financial analysis, dataanalytics, artificial intelligence, and advanced research operations which hascome in handy is delivering on the national assignment of managing theproduction of and dissemination of critical national economic and marketintelligence including those of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Report;Corporate Data and data for the Nigerian Capital Market.
