TheChartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has concluded activities toadmit 250 qualified and experienced members who have distinguished themselvesin the banking industry into the Fellowship cadre of the Institute on Saturday,October 30, 2021 by 11.00am at Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal PalaceHotel, Victoria Island, Lagos 

 

TheDirector General, World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. (Mrs) NgoziOkonjo-Iweala; the Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala), Dr. KingsleyObiora; the MD/CEO, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Mr. HassanBello; the Former Director, Financial Policy & Regulation Department, CBN,Dr. Kevin Amugo; the Former Director, Special Insured Institutions, NDIC, Mr.Joshua Etopidiok; the MD/CEO, Keystone Bank Limited, Mr. Olaniran Olayinka; theMD/CEO, Globus Bank, Mr. Elias Igbinakenzua; the MD/CEO, Rand Merchant Bank,Nig Ltd, Mr. Michael Larbie; the MD/CEO, SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited, Mrs.Halima Buba; the MD/CEO, Coronation Merchant Bank, Mr. Banjo Adegbohungbe; theMD/CEO, Nova Merchant Bank; Mr. Nath Ude; the MD/CEO, Aso Savings & LoansPlc, Hajia Risikatu Ahmed, HCIB; the Founder and Chairman, Proshare NigeriaLimited, Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi; the MD/CEO, SystemSpecs Nigeria Limited, Mr. JohnObaro; the Vice Chancellor, Adeleke University, Ede Osun State, Prof. SolomonAjayi Adebola, are among eminent bankers who will be formally conferred withthe Fellowship of the Institute.

Outof the 258 awardees to be honoured, nineteen (14) would become HonoraryFellows; 93 Associates will become Fellows, and 51 will become Honorary SeniorMembers of the Institute. According to a statement by the Head of CorporateCommunication & External Relation of the Institute, Mr. Nelson Olagundoye,the honour is in recognition of the awardees' meritorious services, commitmentto professional responsibilities and valuable contributions to the industry inparticular and the economy in general.

 

Mr.Taiwo Oyedele, Africa Tax and Legal Services Leader PWC Nigeria, will deliverthe keynote address titled: "Nigeria's Rising Debt Profile: Issues andImplications for Sustainable Economic Development."

 

Giventhe existing COVID-19 pandemic, this year's edition of the Investiture willtake place using the hybrid of virtual and physical platforms, with strictadherence to the preventive protocols against the spread of the pandemic.

 

Theevent, which will have Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, OFR, CON, Chairman/Chief ExecutiveOfficer, SUSMAN & Associates Ltd and Former Minister of Finance as well asNational Planning as the Special Guest of Honour, is expected to attractstakeholders in the industry, including captains of industry, top governmentand diplomatic officials, Financial Decision Makers, Top Management Staff ofbanks, Academics, Professional Institutions, Senior Members and includingwell-wishers.

 

ThePresident/Chairman of Council of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria,Dr. Bayo Olugbemi, FCIB, will be the Chairman of the occasion. At the sametime, Dr. Kenneth Opara, Ph.D, FCIB, 1st Vice President will be the Chief Hostsupported by Mr. Seye Awojobi, Registrar/CE.
