Magodo Residents Call on Lagos State Government to Intervene in Land Tussle with Shangisha Community

In 1988 the Shangisha Landlords Association (Adeyiga Family and Omo Oniles) approached the Lagos High Court to seek redress over the then Military Government's decision in the state, to convert their land in Magodo to a Government Residential Area now a Highbrow Estate.

This was because the Military Government reneged on its promise to compensate the Landlords, and after several years of legal logjam, the Supreme Court ruled several years ago that the Landowners were unfairly treated and thus have a right to 549 plots of land in Magodo G.R.A. Recently the Shangisha Landlords Association effected the Supreme Court Ruling which led to the deployment of anti-riot policemen to execute the judgment.

This created a lot of tension in the well-organized Magodo G.R.A as the residents/landlords in the area acquired their properties through the Lagos State Government, not the "Omo Onile's".

WebTV engaged some of the residents of Magodo G.R.A who have called for a peaceful resolution of the issue and the timely intervention of the Lagos State Government.
