Nigeria's Equities Market closed the month of August 2019 southwards as marketsentiment sustained negative posture due to continuous sell pressure. TheNSEASI dipped further by -0.69% as against -7.50% loss recorded in the month of July 2019 while theNASD USI also closed southwards with -0.50% loss recorded at the end of the month under review asagainst -2.99% loss in July 2019.

Onmarket development, regulation and investors protection, the Securities andExchange Commission has announced that it has made progress in the implementation of its consolidation of multipleshareholder accounts and electronic Dividend Mandate Management System (e-DMMS). The commission stated that about3.4bn shares have been consolidated whileabout 2.7m share accounts have so far beencaptured under the e-DMMS.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange has published its derivativesrulebook which is made pursuant to the Memorandum and Articles of Associationof the NSE and is subject to the provisions of the ISA, and the SEC Rules madethereunder. The Rulebook is expected to be binding upon Members in their relationship with The Exchange, as between themselvesas Members, and as relates to the business which they conduct as Members of TheExchange with the general public.
