1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market maintained negative market sentiment as key market indicator plunged further by 175.76bps while sell pressure persists.

 

The NGX All-Share Index dipped by 0.35% to close at 49,370.62 basis points as against 0.29% loss recorded to close at 49,546.38 basis points at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N94.80bn loss.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +15.58% 

The total volume traded declined by -10.04% to close at 132.23m, valued at N1.63bn and traded in 3,045 deals. FBNH was the most traded stock by volume with 37.77m units traded while FBNH was the most traded stock by value which is put at N418.67m. 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eight (8) NGX sector index closed northward, six (6) closed southward while four (4) closed flat. The NGX Banking Index inched up by 0.23% to top the gainers chart while the NGX LII Index dipped by 0.41% to top the losers’ chart.

Gote index closed flat at 135.11 basis points while Toni index inched up by 0.93% to close at 106.53 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 14 gainers to 15 losers and 72 unchanged. JAIZBANK topped the list of gainers while UPL topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.01x.

Volume and Value Contribution

FBNH led the volume’s chart with 28.56% contribution and closely followed by ACCESSCORP and UBA

 

FBNH tops the value’s chart with 25.75% contribution and closely followed by GTCO and ZENITHBANK

The overnight lending rate closed flat at 15.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also expanded by 0.33% to close at 14.67%

 

 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI closed flat at 443.07 while the AFEX AEI also closed flat.

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Sesame advanced by 3.95% to top the gainers chart while Maize declined by 21.53% to top the losers’ list.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.46% loss while Silver also declined by 1.85% as of 12:08 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 2.59% while WTI also advanced by 2.44% as of 11:09 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira appreciated by 0.08% at the I&E FX Window to close at N429.05/USD while the NAFEX rate depreciated by 0.28% to close at N427.88
