Investors Lose N89.14bn as NGXASI Decline by 0.31%; Overnight Rate Closes Flat at 10.00%; BDC Depreciate to N747

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator advanced by 163.66 bps amid positive market breadth

 

The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.31% to close at 52,348.82 basis points as against a 0.89% loss recorded previously to close at 52,512.48 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N89.14bn loss.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +2.14%

 

The total volume traded declined by 2.16% to close at    N28.51m, valued at N3.25bn and traded in 5,219 deals. UBA was the most traded stock by volume with 22.93m units traded while GTCO was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N482.50m 

 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as three (3) NGX sector index closed northward, twelve (12) closed southward and three (3) closed flat. The NGX INSURANCE index advanced by 0.39% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGX BANKING index declined by 3.39% to top the losers’ chart.

 

The Gote index advanced by 0.08% to close at 141.17 basis points while the Toni index declined by 2.86% to close at 120.37 basis points.

 

At the close of trading, the market recorded 20 gainers to 23 losers and 54 unchanged. PRESCO  topped the list of gainers while CHELLARAM topped the list of losers. 

 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.06x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

UBA led the volume’s chart with 10.34% contribution and closely followed by GTCO and TRANSCORP

 

GTCO tops the value’s chart with 14.85% contribution and followed by ZENITH   and NESTLE

The FMDQ Debt Market Size declined by 0.03% to close at 30.23

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The Overnight lending rate closed flat at 10.0% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate closed flat to close at 9.67%

 

 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI advanced by 1.20% to close at 476.31 while the AFEX AEI declined by -0.41% to close at 244.56 basis points

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Maize advanced by 6.84% to top gainers’ chart while cashew declined by 1.45% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold declined by 0.27% while Silver declined by -0.33% as of 10:53 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by -0.90% and WTI also declined by 0.93% as of 10:53 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

 

The naira at the I&E FX Window declined by 0.09% to close at N461.5/USD while the NAFEX rate declined by 0.02% at N461.21/USD
