Investors Lose N88.31bn as NGXASI Dips Further by 0.33%; Overnight Rate Expands by 0.33% to Close at 15%; BDC Rate Depreciates to N719

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market maintained negative posture as the key market indicator dipped further by 163.72bps as sell pressure persists.

 

The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.33% to close at 49,026.62 basis points as against 0.47% loss recorded previously to close at 49,190.34 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N88.31bn loss.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +14.77% 

The total volume traded advanced by +33.38% to close at 169.18m, valued at N3.19bn and traded in 3,206 deals. COURTVILLE was the most traded stock by volume with 27.68m units traded while MTNN was the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.29bn. 

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as ix (6) NGX sector index closed northward, nine (9) closed southward while three (3) closed flat. The NGX Banking Index inched up by 0.85% to top the gainers chart while the NGX Industrial Index dipped by 1.61% to top the losers’ chart.

Gote index closed flat at 128.26 basis points while Toni index dipped by 1.21% to close at 106.59 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 11 gainers to 20 losers and 64 unchanged. VITAFOAM topped the list of gainers while CWG topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.14x.

Volume and Value Contribution

COURTVILLE led the volume’s chart with 16.36% contribution and closely followed by NGXGROUP and ZENITHBANK

 

MTNN tops the value’s chart with 40.40% contribution and closely followed by BUACEMENT and NGXGROUP

Sesame advanced by 3.75% to top the gainers’ chart while Wheat declined by 26.32% to top the losers’ chart.

Gold recorded 1.61% loss while Silver also declined by 4.17% as of 11:09 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 5.01% while WTI also declined by 5.98% as of 10:11 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira closed flat at the I&E FX Window at N436.50/USD while the NAFEX rate depreciated by 0.03% to close at N435.69
