1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market halts positive sessions as key market indicator dipped to close in negative territory. 

 

The NGX All-Share Index dipped by -0.31% to close at 51,803.98 basis points as against +0.50% gain recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N85.65bn loss.

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +21.27%

The total volume traded advanced by +18.05% to close at 314.61m, valued at N12.85bn and traded in 4,708 deals. LIVINGTRUST was the most traded stock by volume with 100.00m units traded while MTNN was the most traded stock by value which is put at N414.96m.

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as three (3) NGX sector index closed northward, twelve (12) closed southward while three (3) closed flat. The NGX Consumer Goods Index inched up by +0.29% while the NGX Premium Index dipped by -0.75% to top all sector indices otherwise.

Gote index closed flat at 143.22 basis points while Toni index closed red with +0.83% gain recorded to close at 113.31 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 10 gainers to 19 losers and 70 unchanged. SOVRENINS topped the list of gainers  UPL topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.13x.

The FMDQ Debt Market Size advanced by +0.04% to close at N28.01trn from previous figure of N28.trn.

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate closed flat at 14.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate expanded by 0.25% to close at 14.00%


 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The ACI dipped by 0.86% to close at 467.99 basis points as against previous figure of 472.04 while the AEI closed flat at 191.24 basis points as against previous figure of 191.24 basis points.

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Sorghum declined by 25.57% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.20% loss while Silver also declined by 1.42% as of 13:38 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 5.87% while WTI also advanced by 0.67% as of 12:41PM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
