1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 141.03 bps amid negative market breadth.

 

The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.25% to close at 55,529.21 basis points as against a 0.29% gain recorded previously to close at 55,670.24 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N76.83bn loss.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +8.35%

 

The total volume traded advanced by 264.27% to close at N750.79m, valued at N2.66bn and traded in 3,962 deals. CHAMS was the most traded stock by volume with 571..07m units traded while ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by value which is put at N461.81m

 

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as three (3) NGX sector index closed northward, ten (10) sector index closed southward and five (5) closed flat. The NGX Food and Beverages index advanced by 0.20% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGX Oil and Gas Index declined by 4.62% to top the losers’ chart.

 

The Gote index advanced by 0.23% to close at 145.86 basis points while the Toni index declined by 0.77% to close at 126.86 basis points.

 

At the close of trading, the market recorded 17 gainers to 25 losers and 68 unchanged. ACADEMY topped the list of gainers while SEPLAT topped the list of losers. 

 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.01x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

CHAMS led the volume’s chart with 76.06% contribution and closely followed by STERLNBANK and ZENITHBANK

 

ZENITHBANK tops the value’s chart with 17.34% contribution and followed by SEPLAT and GEREGU

The Overnight lending rate expanded by 0.15% to close at 12.43% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate expanded by 0.16% to close at 12.13%

The AFEX ACI closed flat at 478.42 while the AFEX AEI closed flat at 224.26

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Soybeans advanced by 3.50% to top the gainers chart while Paddy rice declined by 1.76% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold advanced by 0.37% while Silver advanced by 0.38% as of 10: 51 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 0.08% and WTI also advanced by 0.15% as of 10: 50 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira at the I&E FX Window declined by 0.09% to close at N461.75/USD while the NAFEX rate declined by 0.01% to close at N461.33/USD
