1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market dipped further to close in the red zone as key market indicator closed below 52,000 basis points 

 

The NGX All-Share index dipped by -1.21% to close at 51,778.08 basis points as against -0.69% loss recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N341.26bn loss

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +21.21%

The total volume traded advanced by +13.98% to close at 241.19m, valued at N3.67bn and traded in 5,043 deals. JAIZBANK was the most traded stock by volume with 40.66m units traded while ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by value which is put at N718.99m.

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as one (1) NGX sector index closed northward, fifteen (15) closed southward while two (2) closed flat. The NGX Growth Index inched up by +2.79% while the NGX Premium Board Index dipped by -2.56% to top all sector indices otherwise.

Gote index closed flat at 144.30 basis points while Toni index closed red with -0.58% loss recorded to close at 113.93 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 9 gainers to 22 losers and 66 unchanged. ELLAHLAKES topped the list of gainers  MCNICHOLS topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.20x.

The FMDQ Debt Market Size advanced by 0.04% to close at N27.87trn from previous figure of N27.86trn

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate declined by 3.08% to close at 10.92% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also declined by 3.50% to close at 10.33%



 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The ACI closed flat at 472.17 basis points as against previous figure of 472.17 while the AEI also closed flat at 192.73 basis points as against previous figure of 192.73 basis points.

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Maize advanced by 19.71% to top the gainers chart while Paddy Rice declined by 1.88% to the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded -0.61% loss while Silver also declined by -1.05% as of 10:49 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 1.28% while WTI also declined by 2.65% as of 09:49AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
