NGX

Nigerian Equities Market retracted to close negative at the end of today’s trading session.

 

The NGX All-Share index dipped by -0.55% to close at 52,979.96 basis points as against the +1.05% gain recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N159.32bn gain

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +24.03%

The total volume traded advanced by +59.01% to close at 436.57mln, valued at N3.22bn and traded in 4,716 deals. JAIZBANK was the most traded stock by volume with 142.36 million units traded, while AIRTELAFRI was the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.03 billion.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eight (8) NGX sector indices closed northward, eight (8) closed southward while two (2) closed flat. The NGX Growth Index topped with +2.03% gain as against NGX Premium Index which dipped by -3.20%

Gote index closed flat at 156.08 basis points while Toni index closed green with +0.11% gain recorded to close at 118.04 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 26 gainers to 24 losers and 61 unchanged. NEIMETH topped the list of gainers as LEARNAFRCA topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed positive.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

JAIZBANK led the volume chart with 32.61% contribution and closely followed by CHIPLC and TRANSCORP

 

AIRTELAFRI led the value chart with 32.04% contribution and closely followed by MTNN and ZENITHBANK

The FMDQ Debt Market Size advanced by 0.40% to close at N27.40trn from N27.29trn.

Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate closed flat at 12.50% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also moved down by 0.25% to close at 12.52%

 

Commodities Market

AFEX Index

The ACI moved down by -2.34% to close at 468.50 basis points as against previous figure of 479.74 while the AEI closed flat at 204.07 basis points

 

AFEX Commodity Prices

Maize grew by 13.36% to close at N232.38 while Cocoa dropped by -3.09% to close at N1,192.01 

 

Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.05% loss while Silver also declined by 0.91% as of 12:21 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by -0.08% while WTI advanced by 2.33% as of 11:24AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

Currency/ FX Market

The naira appreciated at the I&E FX Window by 0.31% to close atN419.02/USD while the NAFEX rate depreciated by 0.05% to close at N417.50.
