1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market dipped further as sell pressure persist

 

The NGX All-Share Index dipped by -0.40% to close at 51,586.50 basis points as against 0.07% loss recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N110.49bn loss.

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +20.76%

The total volume traded advanced by 20.85% to close at 234.61m, valued at N2.57bn and traded in 4,646 deals. CAP was the most traded stock by volume with 29.32m units traded while GTCO was the most traded stock by value which is put at N592.44m.

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as one (1) NGX sector index closed northward, fourteen (14) closed southward while three (3) closed flat. The NGX Industrial Index both inched up by +0.01% while the NGX Pension Index dipped by -0.63% to top all sector indices otherwise.

Gote index dipped by -0.04% to close at 143.16 basis points while Toni index closed green with +0.16% gain recorded to close at 112.93 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 22 gainers to 15 losers and 64 unchanged. REDSTAREX topped the list of gainers while INTBREW topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.11x.

The FMDQ Debt Market Size grew by 0.14% to close at N28.14trn as against previous figure of N20.10 trn 

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate closed flat at 14.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate contracted by 0.17% to close at 14.00%

 


 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The ACI dipped by 0.12% to close at 465.33 basis points as against previous figure of 465.90 while the AEI closed flat at 189.67 basis points as against previous figure of 189.67 basis points.

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Paddy Rice advanced by 1.56% to top the gainers chart while Sorghum declined by 6.76% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 2.37% loss while Silver declined by 4.05% as of 14:23 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 10.31% while WTI also declined by 9.19% as of 13:23PM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
