Investors Gain N8.15bn as NGXASI Inches up Marginally by 0.03%; Overnight Rate Closes Flat at 14%; IEFX Rate Depreciates to N425.05

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed in the positive territory at the end of today trading activities. 

 

The NGX All-Share Index inched up marginally by +0.03% to close at 51,802.48 basis points as against flat position recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N8.15bn gain.

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +21.31%

The total volume traded declined by -46.43% to close at 223.11m, valued at N3.87bn and traded in 4,213 deals. FBNH was the most traded stock by volume with 36.63m units traded while MTNN was the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.37bn.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eleven (11) NGX sector index closed northward, five (5) closed southward while two (2) closed flat. The NGX Growth Index inched up by +0.68% while the NGX Consumer Goods dipped by -0.21% to top all sector indices otherwise.

Gote index closed flat at 143.32 basis points while Toni index closed green with +0.25% gain recorded to close at 112.64 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 20 gainers to 18 losers and 65 unchanged. UPL topped the list of gainers while  PZ topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.03x.

In the energy market, Brent declined by 0.86% while WTI declined by 2.35% as of 11:16AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
