Investors Gain N69.33bn as NGXASI Advances by 0.23%; Overnight Rate Closes Flat at 10.81%; BDC Rate Depreciates to N754

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 127.29 bps amid negative market breadth.

 

The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.23% to close at 54,427.05 basis points as against a 0.13% loss recorded previously to close at 54,299.76 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N69.33bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +6.20%

The total volume traded declined by 24.22% to close at N151.58m, valued at N1.81bn and traded in 2,974 deals. UNIVINSURE was the most traded stock by volume with 20.04m units traded while GTCO was the most traded stock by value which is put at N427.74m

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eleven (11) NGX sector index closed northward, three (3) sector index closed southward and four (4) closed flat. The NGX-IND index advanced by 0.94% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGXMERIGRW index declined by 0.60% to top the losers’ chart.

The Gote index advanced by 1.80% to close at 141.06 basis points while the Toni index declined by 1.11% to close at 124.51 basis points.

At the close of trading, the market recorded 11 gainers to 23 losers and 77 unchanged. TRIPPLEG topped the list of gainers while TRANSEXPR topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.16x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

UNIVINSURE led the volume’s chart with 13.22% contribution and closely followed by TRANSCORP and GTCO

 

GTCO tops the value’s chart with 23.62% contribution and followed by AIRTELAFRI and MTNN

Similarly, on the African scene, the Zimbabwe All Share Index tops the top five gainers with 7.57% gain while Egypt EGX 100 EWI Index tops the top three losers with 0.72% loss as of 4pm Nigerian Time

The Debt Market Size declined by 0.16% to close at N30.94trn

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The Overnight lending rate closed flat at 10.81% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also closed flat at 10.50%


 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI declined by 1.06% to close at 482.82 while the AFEX AEI closed flat at 233.03

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Sorghum advanced by 3.56% to top the gainers chart while Paddy rice declined by 1.53% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold advanced by 0.43% while Silver also advanced by 1.22% as of 10: 39 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 0.44% and WTI also advanced by 0.56% as of 10: 41 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

The naira at the I&E FX Window advanced by 0.07% to close at N461.17/USD while the NAFEX rate advanced by 0.01% to close at N461.33/USD.
