1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market erased previous day loss to close in the green zone while the key market indicator retracted above 50,000 psychological lines.

 

The NGX All-Share Index inched up by 1.42% to close at 50,370.25 basis points as against 1.04% loss recorded to close at 49,667.14 basis points at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N379.16bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +17.92% 

The total volume traded advanced by +23.55% to close at 254.77m, valued at N2.81bn and traded in 4,905 deals. ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by volume with 22.69m units traded while FLOURMILL was the most traded stock by value which is put at N575.08m. 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as sixteen (16) NGX sector index closed northward, zero (0) closed southward while two (2) closed flat. The NGX Banking Index inched up by 6.60% to top the gainers.

Gote index closed flat at 138.20 basis points while Toni index advanced by +6.04% to close at 106.70 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 23 gainers to 13 losers and 58 unchanged. UBN topped the list of gainers while PZ topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.17x.

Global Spectrum Energy Services Plc has notified that further to the shareholders’ approval at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Company held on Wednesday, 20th July 2022 to voluntarily delist Global Spectrum Energy Services Plc from the floor of Nigerian Exchange Limited (“NGX”), the Company has fixed the delisting offer price at N4.19.

The FMDQ Debt Market Size grew by 0.14% to close at N29.15trn as against previous figure of N29.11trn


2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate closed flat at 15.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate contracted by 0.25% to close at 15.00%

 


 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI inched up by 1.98% to close at 479.90 points while the AEI dipped by -3.02% to close at 188.96 points


3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Paddy Rice advanced by 0.05% to top the gainers’ chart while other commodities closed flat.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.59% gain while Silver also advanced by 5.69% as of 13:50 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 8.02% while WTI also advanced by 2.36% as of 12:52PM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
