1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed in the green zone as the key market indicator inched up by 59.33bps to close above 49,000bps

 

The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.12% to close at 49,024.16 basis points as against 0.42% loss recorded previously to close at 49,171.70 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N32.01bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +14.77% 

The total volume traded advanced by +61.58% to close at 356.74m, valued at N3.74bn and traded in 3,311 deals. GTCO was the most traded stock by volume with 135.62m units traded while GTCO was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N2.41bn 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as ten (10) NGX sector index closed northward, three (3) closed southward while five (5) closed flat. The NGXMERIGRW inched up by 0.96% to top the gainers chart while the NGXAFRHDYI Index dipped by 0.11% to top the losers’ chart.

Gote index closed flat at 128.26 basis points while Toni index inched up by 0.98% to close at 104.56 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 15 gainers to 9 losers and 71 unchanged. RTBRISCOE topped the list of gainers while IKEJAHOTEL topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.08x.

Volume and Value Contribution

GTCO led the volume’s chart with 38.20% contribution and closely followed by JAIZBANK and ZENITHBANK

 

GTCO tops the value’s chart with 64.38% contribution and closely followed by ZENITHBANK and FBNH

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate contracted by 0.50% to close at 16.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also contracted by 1.00% to close at 15.50%

 

 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI and the AFEX AEI both closed flat 

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Paddy Rice declined by 4.76% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.42% gain while Silver also advanced by 1.59% as of 12:05 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 0.78% while WTI also declined by 1.24% as of 11:08 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira closed flat at the I&E FX Window at N437.03/USD while the NAFEX rate appreciated by 0.34% to close at N436.78
