1. EQUITIES MARKET

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator inched up by 498.44 bps amid positive market breadth.

 

The NGX All-Share Index inched up by 0.93% to close at 53,998.12 basis points as against 0.49% gain recorded previously to close at 53,499.68 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N271.49bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +5.36%

 

The total volume traded advanced by 1331.88% to close at N2.87bn, valued at N8.07bn and traded in 3,940 deals. UNIVINSURE  was the most traded stock by volume with 2.72bn units traded while AIRTELAFRI was the most traded stock by value which is put at N3.49bn 

 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as nine (9) NGX sector index closed northward, four (4) sector index closed southward and five (5) closed flat. The NGX Oil and Gas index advanced by 5.17% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGXAFRBVI index declined by 0.56% to top the losers’ chart.

 

The Gote index advanced by 0.02% to close at 139.48 basis points while the Toni index advanced by 0.13% to close at 122.48 basis points.

 

At the close of trading, the market recorded 27 gainers to 13 losers and 72 unchanged. MRS topped the list of gainers while SUNUASSUR topped the list of losers. 

 

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.19x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

UNIVINSURE  led the volume’s chart with 94.67% contribution and closely followed by AIICO  and GTCO

 

AIRTELAFRI tops the value’s chart with 43.28% contribution and followed by GEREGU and SEPLAT

The AFEX ACI declined by 1.11% to close at 497.39 while the AFEX AEI declined by 0.12% to close at 244.66

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Maize advanced by 0.61% to top the gainers chart.

Gold declined by 1.34% while Silver also declined by 0.67% as of 10: 40 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent declined by 1.55% and WTI also declined by 1.51% as of 10: 42 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira at the I&E FX Window depreciated by 0.11% to close at N462/USD while the NAFEX rate depreciated by 0.02% to close at N461.4/USD
