1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 463.63 bps amid positive market breadth

 

The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.89% to close at 52,512.48 basis points as against a 0.62% gain recorded previously to close at 52,048.85 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N252.53bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +2.46%

 

The total volume traded advanced by 2.56% to close at 217.16m, valued at N2.55bn and traded in 4,591 deals. ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by volume with 20.31m units traded while  ZENITHBANK was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N517.74mn 

 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as thirteen (13) NGX sector index closed northward, three (3) sector index closed southward and two (2) closed flat. The NGX NGXMERIVAL index advanced by 1.72% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGX GROWTH index declined by 0.94% to top the losers’ chart.

 

The Gote index advanced by 0.01% to close at 141.06 basis points while the Toni index advanced by 1.39% to close at 123.92 basis points.

 

At the close of trading, the market recorded 36 gainers to 12 losers and 49 unchanged. BERGER  topped the list of gainers while LASACO topped the list of losers. 

 

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.49x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

ZENITHBANK led the volume’s chart with 9.35% contribution and closely followed by GTCO and UBA

 

ZENITHBANK tops the value’s chart with 20.29% contribution and followed by GTCO and MTNN

The AFEX ACI declined by -1.70% to close at 470.67 while the AFEX AEI declined by -0.01% to close at 245.56 basis points

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Sorghum advanced by 5.20% to top the gainers chart while Cocoa declined by 0.07% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold advanced by 0.83% while Silver advanced by 1.26% as of 11:53 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 1.27% and WTI also advanced by 0.24% as of 11:53 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)
