Investors Gain N202.93bn as NGXASI Advances Further by 0.81%; Overnight Rate Contracts to 9.88%; BDC Appreciates to 775

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 372.57bps amid negative market breadth

 

The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.81% to close at 46,604.94 basis points as against 2.90% gain recorded previously to close at 46,232.37 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N202.93bn gain.

 

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +9.10% 

 

The total volume traded declined by 26.24% to close at 138.60m, valued at N2.17bn and traded in 3,43 deals. STERLNBANK was the most traded stock by volume with 24.25m units traded while AIRTELAFRI was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N791.28m 

 

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as twelve (3) NGX sector index closed northward, three (12) closed southward and three (3) closed flat. The NGX MAIN BOARD index advanced by 2.05% to top the gainer’s chart while NGXAFRBVI declined by 1.92% to top the losers’ chart.

 

The Gote index closed flat at 136.83 basis points and the Toni index declined by 2.50% to close at 109.50 basis points.

 

At the close of trading, the market recorded 14 gainers to 23 losers and 63 unchanged. MANSARD topped the list of gainers while NESTLE topped the list of losers. 

 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.14x.

 

Volume and Value Contribution

STERLNBANK led the volume’s chart with 17.50% contribution and closely followed by TRANSCORP and ETI

 

AIRTELAFRI tops the value’s chart with 36.45% contribution and followed by GTCO and SEPLAT

The FMDQ Debt Market Size declined by 0.74% to close at N29.7trn.

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The Overnight lending rate contracted by 7.37% to close at 9.88% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate contracted by 7.50% to close at 9.63%

 

 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The AFEX ACI closed flat at 455.71 while the AFEX AEI closed flat at 204.19 basis points

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Cocoa grew by 7.21% to top the gainers chart as there were no losers.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.25% gain while Silver declined by 0.37% as of 11: 44 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 0.11% while WTI also advanced by 0.23% as of 11: 48 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

 

 

The naira at the I&E FX Window appreciated by 0.22% to close at N445/USD while the NAFEX rate depreciated by 0.01% to close at N444.55/USD
