Investors Gain N130.21bn as NGXASI Inches Up by +0.47%; Overnight Rate Contracts by 0.12% to Close at 14.00%; BDC Rate Depreciates to N614

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

 

Nigerian Equities Market extends market gain as the bulls continue to dominate trading activities.

 

The NGX All-Share index inched up by +0.47% to close at 51,618.73 basis points as against +0.57% gain recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N130.21bn gain

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +20.28%

The total volume traded advanced by +37.37% to close at 229.37m, valued at N3.19bn and traded in 4,536 deals. MBENEFIT was the most traded stock by volume with 34.46m units traded while PRESCO was the most traded stock by value which is put at N565.62m.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eight (8) NGX sector index closed northward, six (6) closed southward while four (4) closed flat. The NGX Premium Board Index inched up by +1.61% while the NGX MERIGRW Index dipped by -0.71% to top all sector indices otherwise.

Gote index inched up by 0.03% to close at 143.27 basis points while Toni index also closed red with -1.00% loss recorded to close at 112.03 basis points.

At the close of trading, market recorded 17 gainers to 22 losers and 65 unchanged. FBNH topped the list of gainers  ELLAHLAKES topped the list of losers. Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.08x.

Similarly on the African scene, the Tunisia BVMT Index tops the top five gainers with 1.32% gain while the Namibia NSX Index tops the top five losers with -3.17% loss as of 4pm Nigerian Time


 

 

 

2.1 Debt Market Size

The FMDQ Debt Market Size closed flat at N28.08trn.

 

2.2 Overnight and Open Repo (OPR)

The overnight lending rate contracted by 0.12% to close at 14.00% while the Open Repo (OPR) rate also contracted by 0.17% to close at 13.83%

 


 

 

3.1 AFEX Indices

The ACI declined by 2.84% to close at 478.16 basis points as against previous figure of 489.77 while the AEI closed flat at 191.58 basis points as against previous figure of 191.58 basis points.

 

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Paddy Rice grew by 0.13% to top the gainers’ chart while Sorghum declined by 0.18% to top the losers’ chart.

 

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded -0.19% loss while Silver also declined by -0.82% as of 12:06 NY time

 

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 2.44% while WTI declined by 0.65% as of 11:05AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

The naira appreciated by 0.08% at the I&E FX Window to close at N420.17/USD while the NAFEX rate also appreciated by 0.12% to close at N418.75.

5. Update on OANDO

 

At the close of trading on Thursday June 23, 2022, a total volume of 28.52m units of shares of Oando Plc valued at N168.94m were traded. 

 

This represents 12.78% of the total market volumes of 223.25m while the value of OANDO shares traded represents 5.91% of the total market value traded which was put at N2.86bn.

 

Furthermore, the volume traded represents 0.22% of OANDO’s total shares outstanding put at 12.43bn shares while the value of the shares traded also represents 0.26% of OANDO market capitalization of N70.86bn as of June 23, 2022. 

 

A comparison of OANDO’s volume traded with the previous day traded volume revealed that it decreased by -17% from 34.46m to 28.52m units traded.

 

The share price of  OANDO inched up by +3.51% to close at N5.90k at the close of trading from previous price of N5.70k.

 

Year-to-date, OANDO shares have moved up by +33.48% as against +20.84% YTD return recorded by the NGXASI, out-performing the broad market index by 12.64%.
