Caladium Lagos SME Bootcamp Set to Host 5th Anniversary in Lagos, Launches FedhaGap

Five years have passed since The Caladium Lagos SME Bootcamp (CLSME) team began this journey of supporting nano, micro, small, and medium enterprises, and in these years, so much has happened. The Bootcamp has helped about 5,000 businesses achieve strategic growth and record improvements across various areas, both directly and indirectly.

Another year has come, and the organizers of the CLSME, Caladium Consulting, have announced that the 5th anniversary of the CLSME Bootcamp series will be held on November 26, 2022, at The Zone Park in Gbagada, which is located along the Oshodi-Apapa Express Way in Lagos. With this edition, the Caladium team has played host to almost 50 mentors, think tanks, and heads of industries; 5 major boot camps in Lagos and 1 in Ibadan; hundreds of thousands in business grants and a series of intensive training workshops for select members of its community of 5000+ businesses.

Recognizing the critical role micro, small, and medium-sized businesses play in the economy and the need for their survival, the Caladium Lagos SME Bootcamp takes it upon itself to meet the specific needs of these businesses. Even though small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make up about half of Nigeria's GDP, they get the least attention and help from the government, banks, and other critical economic players. These are a few reasons the CLSME took to the challenge to provide them with comprehensive support one business at a time.

Through the CLSME interventions, thousands of businesses have received consistent support in business finance structuring, management training, branding and marketing, business strategy, and more. The initiative's primary focus remains to help these small businesses scale and facilitate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8.

Organizers of the CLSME have also announced that they will be launching FedhaGap to the Nigerian SME community. FedhaGap aims to address the most pressing issues facing SME community members. It is a multistakeholder platform where SMEs can go for inventory financing, invoice discounting, cooperatives, and specific expert knowledge.

During this session, participants will receive the opportunity to pitch for a business grant to support their ventures. They will also have a chance to join the FedhaGap platform on the day of its launch. For the first time since 2018, this year's event will feature an exhibition segment by some big brands and SMEs within the Caladium SME Community.

This year's event will feature speakers from the finance, technology, media, healthcare, and public sectors. Most notable will be Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Former Vice President of The World Bank & Former Minister of Education; Dimeji Salaudeen, Partner at KPMG; Kenneth Erikume, Partner at PwC; Solape Akinpelu, Founder and CEO at HerVest; Oluwatosin Olasehinde, Founder and CEO, Money Africa; Chike Obimma, Partner and Senior Counsel, Niccom LLP; Toluwase Olaniyan, Founder and CEO, Worden HCB; Omolara Adewumi, Director of Programmes and Coordination, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund; Abimbola Balogun, Co-founder and HR Director, So Fresh; Victor Obioma, Director, Global Business Council; Biodun Kolade, Founder and CEO, Colad Gray Consulting; Tunji Andrews, Co-founder and CEO, Awabah; Bayo Adesanya, Chief Digital Officer, Axa Mansard; Wale Adegoke, Founder and CEO, Nimbus Media Ltd; and Wole Odeleye, Client Technology Lead at Microsoft.

Reflecting on the journey, Ayo Bankole Akintujoye, the co-founder and Convener of the CLSME initiative, said, "this fifth anniversary is an opportunity to consolidate on all we have done in the past. In the years to come, we plan to unlock new frontiers for MSMEs within Nigeria and on the African continent. We have made so much progress, but much still needs to be done".

The Caladium Lagos SME Bootcamp 5.0 is powered by FedhaGap in partnership with other leading local, global and startup brands, including Proshare and WebTV, Axa Mansard; Javat365, the collaboration tool developed by Apek Group; Nomba, NICCOM LLP; Loystar, Shuttlers, Nimbuz Media and MyCovergenius.
