Brewing and the processes of getting out the end product usually rests on the simple processing formula best known to the producing company which usually leads to the production of beer. A key ingredient of the beer making process is malted grain which also depends on the region’s traditional barley, wheat or sometimes rye.
The Nigerian brewing industry represents one of the key players in the African market despite the fact that the African market is still considered relatively small to the global market. This fact is so because most of the top players in the Nigerian market represent the keys players in the Africa.
The Beverages Brewers/Distillers sub-sector, as fondly called on the NSE in Nigeria, is heavily dominated by beer and carbonated soft drinks. Though, there is a clear line of focus among the key players in Nigeria.
The carbonated soft drinks market is dominated by companies like the delisted Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) and 7UP Bottling Company Plc etc, while a few of the beer companies are now exploring the carbonated soft drinks market in order to enlarge their product line.
A quick analysis on the YTD performance of the brewery stocks revealed that CHAMPION records -32.73% YTD loss closely followed by INTBREW and GUINNESS with -26.19% and -25.07% recorded respectively, while GOLDBREW records the least YTD loss with -3.26% recorded.
Among the brewing stocks, NB has the highest Market CAP share with 35.43% contribution, closely followed by CHAMPION with 33.73% Market CAP share; while GOLDBREW has the least Market CAP share of 1.28%
A look at the EPS of brewery stocks reveals that NB tops, closely followed by GUINNESS, while JOSBREW and CHAMPION lead otherwise.
PE Ratio review of the brewing stocks reveal that GUINNESS tops while INTBREW and NB follow closely; and PREMBREW records the least ratio figure.
JOSBREW tops the brewing stocks Return on Equity (RoE) ratio as NB and CHAMPION trail in that order while GOLDBREW records the least ratio with a negative figure.
NB tops brewing stocks PAT Margin as INTBREW and GUINNESS follow on the ladder, while JOSBREW records the least percentage figure.
