At the close of trading on Friday August 12, 2022, a total volume of 478.02m units of shares of Capital Hotels Plc valued at N3.35bn were traded. 

This represents 63.74% of the total market volumes of 750.29m while the value of CAPHOTEL shares traded represents 63.07% of the total market value traded which was put at N5.31bn.

Furthermore, the volume traded represents 15.13% of CAPHOTEL’s total shares outstanding put at 3.16bn shares while the value of the shares traded also represents 31.15% of CAPHOTEL market capitalization of N10.75bn as of August 12, 2022. 

A comparison of CAPHOTEL volume traded with the previous day traded volume revealed that it increased by 157,822,880%.

The share price of  CAPHOTEL closed flat at N3.40k at the close of trading.

Year-to-date, CAPHOTEL shares have moved up by +6.58% as against +16.26% YTD return recorded by the NGXASI, uderperforming the broad market index by 9.68%.

The huge volume traded may represent strategic positioning in the hospitality firm by a significant investor as there have been a notification of an allotment by way of special placement to 22 Hospitality Limited following the increase in the share capital of the Company, and the urgent need to raise capital for the renovation of the Hotel.
