This edition of the "Economy and Politics" features Mr. Charles Robertson, Chief Global Economist, Renaissance Capital as he speaks on "Prospects for Growth and Stability in Sub-Saharan Africa"

According to him if the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement is to be effective, the region must transit into a manufacturing hub to enable industrialization and economic growth.

He argued that without manufacturing activities the AfCFTA will only be helpful to the African region in terms of investments, but lack the capacity to serve as a gamechanger for the economies.

Robertson believed the Free Trade Zones in Africa will benefit when there are manufactured goods to trade with which can boost trade and improve the competitiveness of the region.
