Nigeria's 2023 Presidential election will hold on Saturday, February 25, which is now less than 362 days away.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Professor Mahmood Yakubu said this at a press briefing in Abuja.
According to him, the National Assembly elections will also hold on the same date as the Presidential polls. In contrast, the Governorship and House of Assembly elections will hold on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Prof. Yakubu said the announcement of the election timetable followed the recent signing of the 2022 Electoral Act amendment by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the publication of the notice of election would take effect from Monday, February 28, 2022. The conduct of party primaries, including resolving disputes arising from them, will commence from Monday, April 4, 2022, to Friday, June 3, 2022.
The submission of nomination forms to INEC via the online portal for the Presidential and National Assembly election will also commence from 9.00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, to 6.00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2022.
For the Governorship and State Assembly elections, the submission of nomination forms via the online nomination portal will start from 9.00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, to 6.00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2022.
Also, the commencement of the campaign for the Presidential and National Assembly will kick off from Wednesday, September 28, 2022, and end by Thursday, February 23, 2023.
The Governorship and State Assembly elections campaign will start by Wednesday, October 12, 2022, and close by Thursday, March 9, 2022.
